Hello and welcome to another in-house legal market job update.
Over the past year, we’ve found that the job market has been quite static, with people either unwilling or unable to move jobs.
However, that has changed in the last six weeks.
The job market has become increasingly fluid as people have looked to recruit and people have been looking to change jobs. We expect that trend to continue, but particularly increased dramatically from August as when bonuses are paid, new budgets are set and projects gain an urgency to be finished before the end of the year.
In terms of salaries, we’ve seen salaries increase in private practice. We expect that to flow through to the in-house legal market, perhaps later in the year. It takes some time to that to filter through. So later in the year may be a good time to ask for a pay rise.
