Legal Counsel – University – 6mth secondment

Excellent secondment opportunity for a mid to senior level commercial lawyer as Legal Counsel at a leading educational institution. This full-time role based in Brisbane offers a chance for a commercial lawyer to join a team as supporting the business on a broad range of general commercial legal work.

This leading educational institution is known for its collaborative and supportive culture. The organisation has an established legal team providing advice across areas including commercial and contracts, property, IT, IP, dispute resolution, governance and research projects.

THE ROLE

As Legal Counsel, you will provide commercial legal support to the business collaborating closely with other lawyers within the legal team.

• Interim contract role for approximately 6 months
• Full-time, 5 days a week
• Brisbane office location
• Assist with broad range of commercial legal matters.
• Collaborate with the legal team on projects.
• Provide legal advice and support to stakeholders.
• Draft and review commercial contracts and agreements.
• Manage legal risks and compliance issues.

ABOUT YOU

You are a well-rounded commercial lawyer with a background in general commercial and contracts legal work.

• You have a current legal practising certificate and at least 5 years’ experience in commercial law.
• Strong drafting and contract review skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a legal team.
• Provide legal advice in relation to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
• Provide legal advice to the business to support compliance with legal obligations, accountability, and policy requirements.
• Ability to handle several projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Responds in a positive and flexible manner to change and uncertainty.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
