Legal Counsel – Commercial – Healthcare

SUMMARY:

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Counsel with significant commercial negotiation and drafting experience. This full-time position will work closely with the business and legal team to support a significant commercial project at a leading health service provider and directly report to the General Counsel.

THE ROLE:

As Legal Counsel, you will provide essential legal support for a major redevelopment, focusing on contract management and compliance with legislation. This is a full-time, fixed-term role until 31st March 2026, based at the hospital with possible travel to other sites.

• Oversee end-to-end contract management related to a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
• Provide timely legal advice to senior management and board members.
• Negotiate and manage contractual risks across multiple project phases.
• Draft, review, and amend commercial agreements and contracts.
• Conduct audits and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.

ABOUT YOU:

You are an admitted Australian Legal Practitioner with extensive experience in commercial and contract law. You have a strong background in providing legal advice on a range of contracts and managing legal risks effectively.

• At least 5 years’ experience in a legal role, preferably some in-house experience
• Excellent commercial negotiation and drafting experience
• Experience with service, asset and facility management contracts would be useful but not essential
• Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and resolve disputes efficiently.
• Strong drafting skills with an ability to communicate legal issues in plain language.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with stakeholders.
• You thrive in dynamic environments and are committed to delivering practical legal solutions. Your proactive approach and strong work ethic will contribute to the success of the redevelopment initiative.
