THE ROLE
  • 3 – 4-month interim role to provide cover to the Indian business while they look to recruit permanent for the role in India
  • The role can be performed and completed remotely; however, ideally, you will be based in Sydney so you can meet with other business and legal team members face-to-face.
  • Provide legal advice on a broad range of issues to support the business units in India
  • Interpret complex Indian legislation, provide guidance to senior management and other departments on legal issues affecting the healthcare industry, and provide support
  • Assist with investigations of alleged breaches of Indian laws, regulations and policies.
  • This individual will report to the Regional Director, Legal, Asia Pacific, based in Sydney.
  • Provide strategic advice on legal as well as critical strategic business matters and global legal initiatives and projects as required.
  • Legal services to be provided will include advice on law relating to corporate, commercial, anti-corruption, employment, IP, IT, data protection and property matters.
  • Provide contract support to the business, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and settling all necessary legal contracts and transactional agreements.
  • Draft and review marketing collaterals and policy documents as required.
  • Review and advise on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and interpret new or pending legislation and regulations impacting the company’s operations to ensure compliance and share knowledge with the leadership team.
  • Manage alternative dispute resolution and litigation of the company.

 

ABOUT YOU:

You have the basics:

  • You are/were an Indian Qualified lawyer;
  • You live in Australia, preferably in Sydney
  • Have 10+ years’ post qualification legal experience including 6+ year’s Indian experience
  • Can start the role on or before 7th February 2025;
  • Ideally you have in-house experience and also experience from India in one or more of the following industries:
  • Fast Moving Consumer Goods
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Biotech
  • Health

You get it commercially – You have a keen awareness of commercially-minded and practical legal solutions for the business. You have the aptitude to manage work priorities and the expectations of diverse stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced working environment and are equally comfortable working autonomously or in a team environment as required.

You fit culturally – You are self-aware, grounded, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in technology, an energetic self-starter, comfortable operating autonomously, calm and considered, practical with common sense, and prepared to take ownership.

You are a good lawyer. You should be able to operate and accustomed to working largely autonomously. You need to be a skilled legal operator to consider diverse legal issues, work from first principles, and see the big picture. You should have extensive commercial and contractual negotiation and drafting experience.
