Head of Legal – Not For Profit

An exciting opportunity for a Head of Legal to join a dynamic and impactful organisation in Melbourne CBD. This is a leadership role for a seasoned legal professional ready to hit the ground running, offering a real chance to make an impact while developing and growing your career.

ABOUT THE ROLE

They offer flexibility in working arrangements, with the option to work 3 days in the office and 2 from home a week.

You will directly manage a diverse portfolio of approximately 300 current matters, including litigation, property, commercial, trusts, and privacy. You will also be responsible for leading a team of five, working in a high-performing and lean environment to deliver timely and practical advice.

ABOUT YOU

You are a high-performing lawyer with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in litigation. You have a current Australian practising certificate and prior experience in an in-house role or a reputable law firm. Your ability to turn your mind to diverse legal issues, work from first principles, and provide commercially-minded and practical legal solutions will be crucial in this role.

Culturally, you are self-aware, grounded, and comfortable operating autonomously. You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, technological proficiency, and a calm and considerate approach to your work. You are prepared to take ownership and apply common sense in your role.
