Senior Legal Counsel – IT/Data/Privacy – 8 months

A leading listed property company headquartered in Melbourne responsible for some of Australia’s most iconic buildings.
THE ROLE:
- Work within a supportive legal team and the business to deliver technology, data, governance, and marketing initiatives.
- Provide specialist advice on privacy and data governance matters.
- Negotiate technology and general procurement contracts.
- Report to, learn from and work with an excellent senior IT, Data and Privacy Specialist
- Guide technology, data, and digital teams to shape and deliver the company’s technology strategy.
- It is easiest to get to the office by car and from the suburbs east of the CBD by car. Free parking is available.
- Key relationships with Procurement, Brand & Marketing, Cyber and Data Governance, and Data, and Innovation teams.
Start Date: November 2024
ABOUT YOU:
- You have a current Australian Practising Certificate.
- Relevant private practice or in-house experience with technology and corporate procurement matters.
- Experience with contract negotiation and technology-specific legal issues.
- Understanding of legal and commercial issues arising from procurement and sourcing activity.
- Familiarity with Australian privacy laws, including personal information, surveillance, spam laws, and proposed law reforms.
- Experience with the property sector would be useful, although not essential.
- You have a track record of successfully delivering results to deadlines.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as required.
- You thrive in a dynamic environment and can embrace change.
- You can build professional relationships internally and externally.
