THE ROLE
• You will be responsible for managing a large and diverse property portfolio
• While there will be some sales and purchases of property, most of the work will involve property and facilities management
• Working closely with a skilled Property Team, you will protect the interests of the company’s property holdings
• Reporting: The role has one mid-level lawyer reporting to it and reports to the Deputy General Counsel
• Responsible for advising, negotiating and drafting complex contracts and property arrangements
• Providing timely and professional legal advice on a wide range of property and property adjacent legal issues and risks
• Preparing and maintaining legal precedent documents and legal advice, including drafting and updating pro forma documents for ongoing use
• Dealing effectively with legal issues and problems, including disseminating legal information to ensure relevant executive members are aware of legal obligations
• Organising and participating in the delivery of legal seminars and workshops to staff
• Facilitating compliance with relevant statutory and regulatory requirements to help the business meet its legal obligations
ABOUT YOU
• You have a current Australian Practising Certificate and at least 8 years post-qualification experience, including experience gained in a reputable firm and/or in-house legal team
• You have at least 4 years of Property experience
• You can manage and prioritise your workload, understand and balance risk, and provide clear, simple and to-the-point advice to the business
• You are self-aware, grounded, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, are proficient with technology, are comfortable operating autonomously, adapt quickly to changing priorities, are calm and considered, are practical and pragmatic, and are prepared to take ownership
• You can prioritise and develop processes and systems to streamline workflows
• In a pivotal role within the organisation, you will need to be not only an excellent technical lawyer but also a commercial and pragmatic lawyer
• You effectively influence, manage, and successfully collaborate and communicate with multiple stakeholders across all levels of a diverse institution
