A rare Senior Legal Counsel opportunity within a sector-leading financial services organisation supporting large-scale capital markets and financial markets activities. This in-house legal role will see you advising on complex funding, debt issuance, and derivatives documentation while working closely with internal investment teams.

THE COMPANY
This leading financial services organisation provides funding, investment and financial risk management services through sophisticated capital markets and financial markets activities.
The in-house legal team works closely with senior stakeholders across key functions including funding and investment teams, advising on complex financial markets and capital markets transactions, regulatory matters and legal risk management across the organisation’s financial activities.

THE ROLE
This Senior Legal Counsel position provides senior legal support to the organisation’s financial markets division. Working closely with financial markets stakeholders, you will advise on a broad range of capital markets transactions, derivatives activity and funding programmes.

Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating capital markets documentation, including debt, loan agreements and ISDA / derivatives documentation
• Advising on capital markets transactions, including debt facilities, structured products and corporate finance initiatives
• Supporting key internal stakeholders on funding and financial markets transactions
• Providing legal input into new product implementation and structuring within the financial markets business
• Advising on financial services regulatory and compliance obligations relevant to financial markets activities
• Identifying and managing legal risk across financial markets transactions and strategic initiatives
• Working with internal stakeholders and coordinating with external counsel on specialist matters where required

ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced capital markets or banking lawyer with a strong technical foundation and the ability to work closely with commercial stakeholders in a fast-moving financial markets environment.

You will bring:

• 10+ years’ PQE in capital markets, banking or finance law
• Experience gained in a leading law firm, financial institution or in-house legal team
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating debt documentation, loan agreements and ISDA / derivatives documentation
• Experience advising on debt facilities, treasury or corporate finance transactions
• Understanding of financial services regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations affecting financial markets activity
• Ability to provide clear, pragmatic commercial legal advice to treasury and financial markets stakeholders
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a complex and fast-paced financial markets environment

• Competitive remuneration of approximately $265K package including super
