Senior Legal Counsel APAC – Equipment or Asset Finance

THE ROLE
- Reporting to the GC APAC
- Lead the structuring, negotiation, and implementation of vendor programs, retail/wholesale agreements, and other financial services partnerships with banks, leasing companies and financing entities.
- Manage and drive joint ventures and cooperation arrangements with financial services partners to offer retail/wholesale financial services and potentially incorporate stand-alone financial entities in the region.
- Oversee the monitoring and recovery of outstanding debts from distributors, dealers, key clients, and other direct customers, implementing credit recovery strategies in collaboration with legal and compliance teams across the APAC region.
- Structure, negotiate, and execute debt restructuring projects and manage credit collaterals, ensuring alignment with APAC Financial Services and Legal teams.
- Standardize and review collateral documentation (e.g., bank guarantees, mortgages, pledges, insurance coverage).
- Manage corporate and regulatory responsibilities for ABC Capital’s legal entities, including Company Secretary duties.
- Liaise with external legal teams and manage relationships in the ANZ market while ensuring alignment with regional counsels across the APAC markets.
- Ensure costs are managed within the budget and aligned with the APAC Financial Services CFO and/or Head of Financial Services APAC.
- Support securitisation projects in coordination with APAC’s Structured Finance teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive experience in financial services or equipment finance or asset finance operations.
- Proven track record in structuring, negotiating, and implementing vendor agreements, joint ventures, and financial services arrangements.
- Strong expertise in credit recovery, debt restructuring, and collateral management.
- Knowledge of regulatory and corporate responsibilities in the financial services sector.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with experience managing cross-regional legal and compliance teams.
- Strong understanding of the APAC financial services landscape.
